Most of us know RealX as the immensely talented creator of the EVE Online soundtrack. A maker of electronic music since 1994, he has consistently managed to mesh a variety of genres to create his unique sonic landscape. At this year’s Fanfest, he unveiled for our fans a different side of his musical persona; a faster, more beat-driven style than has been evident in much of his work so far. The set, which you can download and listen to by following the link below, was composed and played on an Akai MPC-2000, a Novation Nova and a Korg EA-1.
While RealX counts among his influences first and foremost such electronic music luminaries as Aphex Twin, Squarepusher and Boards of Canada, the Fanfest 2006 set has much more in common with the works of dancier acts such as Orbital and Underworld. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
